How to choose

Zojirushi rice cookers and thermo pots: which model?

Founded in Japan in 1918, Zojirushi is best known for two things — rice cookers and electric thermo pots. We currently stock 17 models, all 220–240V. Before you choose, it helps to know the three tiers.

Rice cookers

TierHeating methodWhat actually differsModels
EntryMicom / Fuzzy Logic (heats from the base)NL-DSQ, NL-EAQ, NS-ZAQ
MidIH induction (heats the whole pan)NW-QAQ, NP-GKQ05
TopPressure IH (cooks above 100°C)NW-YAQ, NP-BSQ, NP-RLQ05

In short: for one or two people on a budget, an entry Micom model is plenty. If you care about texture and bite, go straight to Pressure IH. Mid-tier IH sits comfortably between the two.

Thermo pots

With thermo pots the real difference is how much power they use to stay hot. VE vacuum insulation (CV-JAQ) uses a vacuum layer to slow heat loss, so it costs less to keep water hot over a long day. If you only boil now and then, the CD series is already more than enough.

  • Size it by household. 2.2–3L suits one or two people; 4–5L suits three or more, or frequent tea drinkers.
  • Measure your worktop height. Most thermo pots open upwards, so leave clearance above.
  • Liner material. A stainless steel liner lasts longer and is easier to clean.
